2026 Election Season is here!

It’s officially election season!

With the primaries of this past Tuesday behind us, it’s time to look to the November elections.

First off, congratulations go to CJ Hernandez, who won the Democratic primary for Utah Senate District 5 against challenger Dakota Wurth. She’ll face off against Republican Jill Kilford in the general election in the fall. For more information and to donate or volunteer, visit https://www.cjforsenate.com/.

Our thanks go to Dakota. He ran a strong and well organized campaign, and we’re looking forward to seeing where his energy and intelligence take him next!

The State Senate and House races impact so many aspects of our day to day lives - how education funding is prioritized, how housing policy is shaped, and how infrastructure and growth are managed. The primary elections across Utah saw the downfall of prominent GOP legislators as voters register their dissatisfaction with the corruption and power grabs of the past few years, with the fights over data centers serving as a flash point for many voters.

2026 could be the year that we break the GOP supermajority - but it will take plenty of work from everyone. There are so many ways to help out beyond donations! Volunteer to knock doors, make calls, deliver signs, organize the office, provide snacks, host a party, talk to friends and neighbors, etc. For a list of Weber County candidates, check out www.weberdemocrats.org and get involved!
