9/10/2025 - Notice from Weber Democrats
News of Charlie Kirk's passing is a sobering reminder that political violence has no place in our community. We condemn today's brutal shooting and all other acts of political violence.
We extend our support to his family and to those who are traumatized by the events of the day. Our thoughts are with you.

As we watch the footage of Charlie Kirk getting shot, so many words come to mind. What stands out amongst the chatter is 'fear'. Fear leads us to desperation, to anger, and to hate. With history looming over each torn apart family, each violation of our rights, and each violent episode, one can't help but feel that fear creep in. We need to force out primitive action and lean into the greater part of human nature. Political violence is an abhorrent sickness and we have watched it spread before. We stand with compassion. We stand with humane action. We stand with the light.

In the immortal words of Martin Luther King Jr: “Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate. So it goes. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
