The deadline to comment on Utah's new congressional maps is Sunday, October 5, 2025.

After years of fighting gerrymandering in court - and winning - we have a rare chance to ensure fairer representation. But only if we speak up now.

What's Happening Right Now

The Legislature has proposed six maps (five Republican, one Democratic). The good news: all are improvements over the illegal 2021 gerrymander, and most create at least one competitive congressional district for the first time in years.

The concerning news: Republican legislators are simultaneously trying to pass new legislation that would redefine "fair" redistricting to lock in partisan advantages of nearly 30 points—essentially legalizing gerrymandering through a narrow "partisan symmetry" formula that ignores the full intent of Proposition 4.

Also, the Republicans have sent a fundraising email stating their support is clearly behind Map C, further injecting partisanship into what should be a non-partisan activity. Their inability to respect the will of the people is yet again front and center for all of Weber County to see.

Key Dates

  • October 5: Public comment deadline (THIS SUNDAY)

  • October 6: Special legislative session to vote on final map

  • October 23-24: Court hearing if plaintiffs challenge Legislature's choice

  • November 10: Judge's final decision on maps for 2026 elections

The Bottom Line

We're on the verge of securing fair representation for the next decade. But the Legislature's "under protest" compliance and attempts to game the system show they haven't given up on cheating us or our neighbors in Weber County.

Your comment by October 5 can make the difference. Whether you're in Ogden, Roy, Pleasant View, or anywhere in Weber County—make your voice heard.
